Hi Rob try sms auto fabrics they just not that good in getting back to you but if you in the USA it might be easier im in South Africa and its a bit of a pain

Try Auto Krafters out of Virgina. They have a very good CD for a parts manual for most any part. I have a 67 Ford Galaxie 500 2 dr. H.T. Fastback and they have most all of my parts. Liberty

Try Dearborn Classics at www.dearbornclassics.com. They have most part for restoration.

Question:
Hi, I have a 1965 Ford Galaxie and my reverse lights dont work. I have power going to them there new bulbs, but when I put it into reverse they dont go on. Can you help?

The switch mounted on the steering column below the dash sometimes needs to be twisted a bit to get it back in proper phase with ignition lock-out and the back-up lights. John

if you have power to the socket in reverse with a test light check your ground as the test grounds it self and will mess with your head

Question:
How do I fit a 460 big block in my 1967 Rord Galaxie?

Response(s)
Try Crites Restoration for the motor mounts etc. You will probably have to order headers as well depending on what year and what type of exhaust manifolds you have. It fits much better than you think but there are certainly challenges along the way.

i have the same set up . just change the motor mounts. no other mods are nessesary.

Question:
Hope this is acceptable for you, but I would like to know if there was a difference in length between the '59 Galaxie convertible and the retractable. If there is a difference, where was length added? (I am contemplating building a model of my mom's '59 convertible, but I have only a retractable model kit to start from...) I appreciate anything you can tell me. The retract just looks like it has either a longer rear or a shorter roof than the convertible. Thank you very much!

1965-66 Ford Galaxie 500XL Convertible

Question:
Can you tell me anything about an L engine code for a 1965-66 Ford Galaxie 500XL. The VIN is 6B65L819360. Any Help would be appreciated. Thanks David

Response(s)
David, I'm not seeing a L code in my reference list for 1966. The first 6 is the year 1966. The B is the assembly plant, which is Oakville, ON, Canada. 65 is Galaxie 500 convertible. Could your L be a damaged C? Check your protecto plate or VIN tag closely. The 819360 is your consecutive unit number. Your registration may be wrong if the VIN tag was read wrong some time in the past. My brother has a 1967 Mercury and he had to apply to correct his title to fix his registration.

Thanks for your help I will do that.

L codes meant sohc 427

1963 Ford Galaxie 427

Question:
I need to remove the chrome trim from the doors and fenders on my 1963 Galaxie. What is the best way to do this? Also any suggestions on reinstall on new paint. Thanks

Response(s)
there is a nut, or screw on the inside edge of the doors just behind the ends of the molding strips. Once the nut or screw is removed, the clips have a tapered end and a blunt end, if you carefully apply pressure to the tapered end it will slide off and the blunt end will release. The tapered end is the top side of the clip on the top molding, and the tapered end is bottom side of the clip on the lower molding. The lower moldings on the front door requires a tool to release a small pressure/guide wire on each clip.

1963 Galaxie 500

Question:
I am in the middle of pulling the transmission on a '63 and seem to have run into a snag. All five bolts which go into the engine are of and it can be moved slightly but it seems to be stuck. There is a plate that goes in between the engine and bell housing that is still bolted to the trans. Is this what I am getting hung up on? I believe it is a Cruise o matic FX (the small one) transmission.

Response(s)
The plate your referring to is the flywheel and it is bolted to the torque convertor and the crankshaft. You'll need to remove the four or five nuts to remove it from the torque convertor. Then you'll be able to remove the transmission.

1963 Ford Galaxie 500 CONVERTIBLE

Question:
My father bought a 1963 Ford Galaxie and let it sit 26 years...unfortunately the water continued to roll into the trunk. The trunk rotted out and no longer exists. Do you think that an expert could restore it if there was separation from the frame?

Response(s)
Peter, anything can be repaired if you've got the coin. I would look to Dearborn Classics for a replacement trunk floor pan and trunk seal or a donor vehicle. Good Luck Darryl

1964 Galaxie 500, 4 Door

Question:
I have a 64 Galaxie 500 - 4 door. It is all original, very few problems. I am looking for the right & left side door mirrors. They are not the typical mirrors, they have a squared base and the mirror housing has a rounded back. I have looked everywhere, tons of web sites but have been unsuccessful. Does anyone know where I might find this style of mirror?

Response(s)
Hey Mike,
I have an all original 1964 Ford Galaxie 500, Four-Door, Hard-Top, Fast-Back, Police Interceptor.
http://msamericanpi.bravehost.com/galaxie.htm.
I too have questioned the mirror styles, and they apparently are different from vehicle to vehicle. I concluded that as long as both mirrors are the same, it really doesn't matter what style one uses. Hope you are well. JC

Ford Galaxie 500 XL Convertible 1967

Question:
Hi, I own a 1967 Ford Galaxie 500 XL dark blue convertible with a light blue interior. I want to re-paint the console and the front seats. The color of the console and the seats is light blue (the color code othe seat upholstery seem to be amfkq). Where could I find the color code of these items to re-paint them in the original color? Thanks Regards M.R.

Response(s)
Your data plate will have the trim code. Or you can remove a small section of trim from under your seat to use as a sample, or from an area that hasn't been faded by the sun. OR TRY SMS Auto Fabrics, might be able to buy reproduction seat covers. Regards Darryl

1964 Ford Galaxie 500 4 dr. sedan

Question:
I own a 1964 Galaxie 500 4 dr sedan, and am trying to determine the paint color, I'm not able to read the code. It is either cascade green, S , or Holly green, L, were they both offered on this car? Any suggestions ?

Response(s)
Bob, From the documentation I've found, I'd say that you are the S code Cascade Green. Go to http://www.galaxie500site.com/colors.php and download the 1964 exterior color codes PDF and you'll see the L Code Holly Green is footnoted with number 2 that says, "Station, Bus and Club Wagon only". Since you have a 4 dr sedan you must have the Cascade Green S Code. Thank you for using the Galaxie 500 Site. Ed

Ed: Thanks, this car was bought new by my father in law in 1964, my wife swears the color was forest green, was this a special order color?

Bob, I don't see a forest green as an available color in 1964. So I doubt there was a special order color called forest green. I obviously wasn't there to know if they special ordered the station wagon Cascade Green, which could be possible I guess.
